asakiyume: (shaft of light)

It's calm, not a whitecap in sight, and there's sparkling manna everywhere, turning the grass to silver. The light is morning light, not dawn light anymore, but still long, and golden. Silver-golden. The long, silver-golden light of an inhaling, not the rose-golden light of evening, which is exhaling. Golden light has two sides? Morning and evening? Maybe that's it: the two sides of golden light are morning and evening. Or: golden light is a signpost, and one arrow points to morning, and the other to evening.

This golden morning light, with the leaves just so, and the road cool beneath my feet, is a place I inhabited first in dreams, but I come here often, now, and as I think about it, I'm glad we have three dimensions or more in which to give (and receive) directions, because some maps are hard to make, otherwise.

. . . And--an extra thought--when you inhale, like morning, your feet may come off the ground. Not that mine have, except in leaps, except in dreams, but they may. It is both permitted and possible.

Good morning, dear Asakiyume :)

Long time no see! And you keep writing those amazing haiku... in your own way :)))

walking
on the edge of the sky
ocean this morning

That's a beautiful haiku -- congratulations! There are others in your short essay, btw :))))

Good morning, Origa!

I love the image of morning and evening as inhaling and exhaling. That's beautiful.

I like how your mind works through its metaphors. First noticing, then observing, then drafting, then refining.

And then the AH-HA moment. As George Seurat says in Sunday in the Park with George, "Can't you see the shimmering?"

Who was telling me just today about someone who speaks only in metaphors? Oh, I know: I think it was a friend of the ninja girl's who's visiting here.

The shimmering is magnificent, Mr. Seurat.

Yet again your post has worked the magic of making me remember things I have let sit too long in my own mind. :P

And yours for me, both your photos and that video.

Happy I can reciprocate in some small way.

What a image! I want to walk on the edge of the sky ocean too. Hmm. And while it's exhaling over there, it's still inhaling over this side of the world.

I would like to drift in a tidal pool of sky.
Waves washing me, rolling me.
Bit by bit I'd melt away.

I've dreamed about it, and some mornings, if I close my eyes, I'm wading in it.

"the two sides of golden light are morning and evening"

And the two sides of noon and midnight?

And here's a sadder thing I've been thinking about: the two sides in the HG Wells "Time Machine." Are we coming to something like that, where never the twain shall meet? Of course, I read only the Classic Comic, so I may have a fuzzy idea of that novel.

Well, noon and midnight (^_^) and morning and evening are--in most worlds anyway--seamlessly connected, and in our world, much as the haves would like to forget that fact, so are the haves and the have-nots. So the haves deny the have-nots healthcare, make them work long hours, exhaust them... well: the disease that erupts under those conditions will come back to bite the haves, as viruses and bacteria are not deterred by gated communities and home security systems. And if the haves refuse to educate the have-nots, then the haves will lose out, with no one to take care of them in their old age and no one to fix their broken computers and so on.

... And that's not even taking into account have-nots' capability to rise up and overthrow their oppressors. Which happens, and haves know it.
