tiny whirlpools

Went walking with the healing angel along the narrow causeways in the Ashley Reservoir in Holyoke. On one side of one causeway the water level was higher, so it was flowing through pipes to the other, lower side, and as it did, it was forming tiny whirlpools.



Here's a closeup on one--it's like a morning glory, and the reflected sun is a bright bee.

They were fun to watch--they'd merge into one, switch pipes, divide up again--so cool.

I simultaneously love whirlpools and am really creeped out by them, for some reason.

I can understand that--you wouldn't want to get caught in one. They're like mouths that are going to swallow you.

Such beautiful, mesmerizing things, whirlpools. Both wondrous and frightening when one thinks of them in great size.

Those tiny whirlpools are so neat! Much prettier than the ones in the bathtub :)

I was looking at my bathtub one just last night and thinking about this. I think it's because one in the great outdoors has such better things to reflect in it!
