I made some paper the other day. In the first photo, you can see flashes from mica that's embedded in it.

I like the second photo though, with the light shining through it, because you can see all the different fragments of original paper that went into it, and where the pulpy mass settled more thickly and more thinly. It's like stained glass, or like a freeze-frame from a kaleidoscope.

That's interesting! Do you have any plans for it?

I'll probably use it to make cards, or to write letters on.

Interesting stuff! What will you do with it?

I'll use it for correspondence--as a base or element in cards, or just to write on (maybe).

Of course I don't know how yours looks or handles in person, but a friend of mine made paper as part of her book binding studies some years back, and she gave us all a few sheets of paper. I discovered that mine was most successful in taking stencil and stamp art.

I should try that! I have a few stamps ...

BTW in case you like very old film of real life, I was resting my hands just now, watching these clips of Berlin, this one in 1900: https://youtu.be/B-m9A8mY-U0

So many men and boys.

So many women in this one, same area, (some of same sites) in summer 1945: https://youtu.be/R5i9k7s9X_A

It gives me a great sense of desolation--some of the young, suspicious faces in the second one--all the things they've seen. And by now they're so old, or dead. And the prosperous folk of the first video had no idea what was coming for them. We're all, individually, so small compared with the sick fevers that grip us...

That's amazing. The paper is so pretty.

Yeah, and it's fun to make. You take some old junk mail, soak it, pulverize it, add water--and bang-o, new paper, pretty stuff.

Isn't it cool? Like seeing something under ultraviolet light and having whole new patterns revealed.

Or like a very thin slice of some conglomerate rock, or jasper, maybe, held up to the light. :)
