At this time in the morning, the shadows of the tiny bits of snow we have cast huge. It's like looking at the Guilin Mountains.

Guilin Mountains, photo by Hiroji Kubota, from this site

See?

Can't you imagine wandering there, with your sturdy pack horse carrying your porcelain tea set and some charcoal, so that when you tire, you can sit down, make a fire, brew some tea, and watch the sky and the mountains?

Oh, they do! How cool!

We have some spectacular snow right now. I wanted to get pictures, but from here at work, the sunlight reflects too strongly off the snow.

Just on the mountains, thank heavens. (Though I have seen it come down into the foothills behind Glendora, Azusa, and Duarte.)

But, the mountains are not that far, so--

It's more than we've had in years.

That's really, really beautiful.

I'll collect my friends (you among them, if you'll come) in dreams, and we'll go there--travel in two, three, and four dimensions.

It's a professional photographer and a world-class view--and I agree, he's created a work of art.

Your snow-peaks are very sharp indeed - sky-piercers!

Thats so cool! Looking at your photo is almost like falling into that little world of mountains. It's a simpler shot than Hiroji's, but a neat effect.

Yeah, his photo gets to show depth, which is lovely--the mountains disappearing in the misty distance. But I like the dramatic Guilin-like shapes of my shadow mountains.

It's amazing how mountainous they are! Snow casts a long shadow.
