asakiyume: (glowing grass)

I love the boardwalk over the marsh, on the way to the supermarket. I'm not alone in loving it. The plants that grow underneath it and roundabout it love it too. They show their affection by growing up and around it and through it--sexy green embrace.

The Virginia creeper loves it:

The oriental bittersweet loves it:

The poison ivy loves it:

Rosa multiflora love-love-loves it:

And so do the local grasses:

What can I say? It's a very lovable boardwalk.

Annnd... I have no good transition for this, but here are a couple of lovely things from today:

Beautiful grass, with cow's vetch and daisy fleabane:

And the turbulent sky:

No, you are not alone. I love the boardwalk over the marsh on the way to the supermarket too. Probably I will walk it a few more times in the next day or two.

I'm glad to hear it. If you get as far as the supermarket, walk behind it to the retention pond--you can hear frogs there.

I love your boardwalk, too.

The other boardwalk lovers, the jealous ones, will surely come along soon, with their gloves and their pruning shears, to pretend that the walk is theirs and theirs only.

I might be among that crew when it comes to the poison ivy. The other demonstrations of affection I don't mind so much :-)

Ha, don't blame you for the poison ivy! :P

Beautiful! But don't stand there admiring too long or tendrils will spiral around your ankles...

Yes, I get the distinct impression that too much love could be a bad thing...

Yes, the rose tranquilizes you with its perfume, the birds are singing, and the next thing you know, you're held fast by the bittersweet.

...you're held fast by the bittersweet...

*nods sadly*

This happens to me a lot.

It happens to me too.

I went on a board walk today, but the vegetation was very restrained and preferred to worship from afar. Perhaps the greenery is more reserved around here? I did see an enormous eel dead in the water.

The eel was no doubt an offering from a sea-cat, much the way land-cats will leave you mice or snakes. But it must be quite a sizable sea-cat....

I'll bet! Islands are great places for dramatic skies.

Turbulent sky with subtle rainbow! :) I'll take that as a good omen.

Yes! Let's do that.

(Started reading My Three Years, etc. OMG the imperialist attitudes (only just at the part with the porters -_-)

Thanks--apparently everyone was getting rainbows yesterday.

I didn't see any rainbows, but then again, I didn't see any rain either.

Unless you count the chalk rainbows in Cambridge back on Saturday, anyway.

I love when Mother Nature stakes her claim on our incursions. On the river path where I like to walk, there is a makeshift boardwalk over a swampy area made from wooden pallets, and the skunk cabbage comes up through the gaps.
