I want you guys to have them too. Or, okay: I know a photo isn't the same thing as seeing with your own eyes, but it's something, right? And maybe it's a map. Like, you'll find a version of this because you've seen the photo. You'll find a similar portal.
Oh, yes, as a little old folklorist grannie Briggs wrote what turned into a US bestseller, A Dictionary of Fairies, which is about British and Manx folk entities, but not world. That was how I first ran into her, happenstantially*, and now I own all her books except Pale Hecate's Team, and read the doorways pamphlet via ILL. She's been critiqued, as people are, but I've enjoyed her work.
* My son is primarily a reader of videos, by inclination, but I was telling him the other day how much we lose in not going to analogue shelves, library or bookshop, and seeing what's there. At this point I'm pretty thoroughly focused and get my library books by hold, but how vividly I remember encountering fabulous serendipity.
... But then looking at the link, that looks like a very long book, and I think I looked at one that was shorter. But maybe not! Maybe it was that one. Just now looking at her published works, I'm thinking maybe it was A Sampler of British Folk-Tales.
