December 10: a wreath ... and a little music

Now for something completely different and unexpected.

The wonderful poet Virginia Molhere tweeted a video of a musician playing a bagpipe he'd made with a rubber glove (viewable here.) I said it would be fun to try to make one, and she found this Youtube video (by someone else, for a much more basic rubber-glove bagpipe) that gives a method.

I tried it (tweet w/19-second video here), and while it's not what you'd call a runaway success, it does make some noise! And the process of making it was a lot of fun. I'll try some refinements--mmmmaybe ;-)

Not so sure about rubber glove bagpipes, but the advent colander is looking more and more cheery. Wonder what you will put in the big one!

Hahaha, well, the rubber glove bagpipes are definitely a work in progress, LOL.

I'm still deciding about the big one!

I swear I'm not making fun of sartorias' typo, but I'm so tickled by the idea of an "advent colander" that I'm going to vote for a picture of a shiny stainless steel colander!

I saw the rubber glove bagpipe video! It did make me laugh, although, as my husband commented, "This is sort of a whistling dog phenomenon, isn't it?" Regardless, I admire your ambition and stamina. :)

Still loving the advent calendar!

Hahaha! I'm going to try again at some point with a stronger glove--and more pipes!
