A few more photos, work, Readercon
Jul. 8th, 2015 05:57 pmOf course, just a day before I need to start the slow process of traveling to Readercon (first a journey to my dad's to pick him up), I'm inundated with work I need to do. I may have to take some of it with me to Readercon, which I haaaaaate doing. (I like typing all those a's though.)
But I'm still going to share some photos. This morning, as I set out for my walk, there was a whizzzzzz, like an electric car, only what it actually was was a guy with a backpack, bandana, and cigarette, sailing past on a skateboard! I was so delighted. He got off the skateboard when he reached the big downhill at the end of my street, so I was able to chase after him (shameless!) and catch him on the boardwalk. I said he'd looked super cool sailing by, and could I take his picture? And he said yes! And so I did, and thanked him.

And here's the other photo. It looks like a tiny mud patty, but it's really a very flat toad. We've seen him before, camouflaging himself nicely on this rail, and once even hanging out on the window of our door. A very chill toad, with pleasant golden eyes, which he opened at the musical sound of my camera turning on.

So yes, I'll be away at Readercon this weekend, and since I don't have any mobile devices, you probably won't hear much from me. And when I get back, you still may not hear much from me, because of work being so demanding--but then again, I like it here and come even when I'm busy, so who knows.
PS I apologize for not leaving comments today. It's partly work, but partly LJ is giving me nothing but 503 varnish errors. I hope it gets over that soon.

And thanks for the good wishes re: Readercon (and I'm glad you liked the toad; he's very sweet).

Date: 2015-07-08 11:56 pm (UTC)The skateboard guy is very cute indeed, but can't really compete with the toad.
I hope you have a lovely Readercon.
