There's always something to see, if I go for a walk. These were snow waves I saw around 6 pm, after I finished with work.

Right? I like how in the first picture, you can see colors where the ice refracts the light.

I'm glad! It was pretty seeing the snow in the late-day sun.

There was so much of it. It seems weird that so little remains.

In related news, saw my first robin today.

It still feels like a lot of snow, even though compared to what once was here, it's hugely less. I'm waiting for there only to be clumps left. It's melted away from the house, though, and I can see daffodil spears--amazing.

I think the robins are gaslighting you! They stay around all winter around here.

Thanks! It was one of those times where the camera actually caught what I saw--I'm glad.

I love those snow waves. They do indeed look just like sea spray!

It's been your photos that I've thought of, looking at these snow formations.

These look like snow against glass, and too delicate to be free-standing. Is that not what they are?

No, these are freestanding! It's what the mountains of piled up snow look like as they begin to melt away--they melt in these lacy patterns, that then freeze when it's cold.

If I get a chance, I'll take a more mundane picture that shows what they look like without the sun shining through them--much more ordinary.

This shows what I was photographing in a much more ordinary light.

It's a special combination of the sun, the snowbanks melting in just the right way . . .
