December 7: hairy woodpecker

Here is today's Advent calendar offering! It rained again yesterday, so I had to touch up the frame again--and this time I'm touching up the images too, because I think we're going to have a few days without rain, so I might as well make the whole thing look bright.

Lovely! I’m so impressed with your bird drawings.

If you’re willing to post photos of the whole thing each time, I’m curious to see how it looks as it gradually fills in. And then you could make a gif/video!

Thank you, I'd be glad to! Right now I have people here installing a water heater, so their trucks are in the way, but when they finish I can take a picture of the whole thing.

Thank you! Some time ago on Twitter, a father posted pictures his child had done of birds. They were very impressionistic--just blocks and bars and circles of color--but absolutely conveyed the birds, and I realized how effective that was and wanted to try!

Love this one!! He has so much extra hair on him that he could pass as a puffin!! Okay, it’s better that I say that than anything about how he could remove hair on his -pecker!!

(I really wasn’t gonna go there. Really!!)
