Solstice bells were ringing when I stepped out this morning--

solstice bells

Everything was glowing

wildflowers and vines

grass flowers

Across the way and elsewhere, rosa multiflora was in all its glory, bullying in its beauty--"you can't resist me; you know you can't. You love me--so don't complain about my thorns and the blood and pain. Remember this."

Happy summer solstice from the northern hemisphere!

Thanks for sharing! Winter solstice over here means whales - but it looks like we're also having a gloriously sunny weekend...

Your days will start getting longer now!

Have any of the whales breached for you yet this year? I remember once seeing one swim with one of its arm-flippers up out of the water, like it was waving.

No big breaches yet. We have seen a few flipper waves and tail slaps, and we've also seen them quite close to the shore. Unfortunately, my DSLR picked up a potentially fatal problem on our last trip, so that might be it for big breaching photos for this season.

Oh no! Why can't things work forever? That's terrible--how old is the camera?

It's probably at least ten years old. It might still be repairable, but that take a while and I'll need to decide if it's actually worth it, versus upgrading to a new body.
