where have all the Christmas trees gone?
Jan. 16th, 2010 02:32 pmChristmas is over. Time to get rid of your Christmas tree. In this town, you can bring your Christmas tree to the town transfer station--for free--where it will be ground up into mulch. This is evidently too much effort for some people, and so they dispose of their trees in out-of-the-way locations where no one will see them .... like, alongside the road here.
Here's one...

And here's another, artfully hidden behind the stumps of the giant tree that the town had to take down.

And here's one across the street from some apartments, where, no doubt, it had residence for a while...

These will eventually decay, though it'll take a while. I've seen skeletons of Christmas trees that have continued on, intact as skeletons, for years. Less forgivable are the computers and televisions I occasionally find in the woods. Hey people, those things have heavy metals in them! And this town's water comes from wells, so anything that leaches into the ground, you're drinking!
