Yes, I noticed that too. I took it to be an embrace of all things, the butterflies and poison snakes equally. And the amanitas, they're ambiguous because they could be any of those possibilities you mention, the healthful, the mind altering, the poisonous--and you get the feeling the speaker would welcome any.
