more full of leaves
Come away, human child, for the world is more full of leaves than you can ever know.

Come away to where the blackberries grow

Step in, step in deeper, into shadow. There are more fruits there, hidden, sweet, and black.

Who and what were in this world?
Crows saying, autumn's coming. autumn's coming. I know that, crows. I know. I can read cool drenching dews and sharp skies too, you know. I know what blackberries mean.
Also titmice, singing one minute and raising an alarm the next. And something that rustled by the stone wall, something dark, not a shadow, because its darkness was sleek. I couldn't get a sense of size. What creature are you? Let me see your ears or eyes, so I can know. But the leaves hid it. Then, a moment later, a pointed ear, a green eye. Cat! You're the one alarming the titmice, then.
Also this small creature

And this magic fruit

And out my window now? Circles of light and dark, dancing.

That's not a bad description for the blackberries, either.

Cara Sposa's wanted one for years. I found one at Vicky's Veg a couple of months ago and we brought it home. Still haven't planted it yet. Still looking for just the right amount of space (and debating whether to take out the dying birch in the back rear. It's being eaten by some kind of vine.

Are there good picking-blackberries nearby?
