Para-amnesia

Para-amnesia

I woke, and even recognizing the room
Didn't know where I was
Even repeating my name
Didn't know who I was.
I wandered down a path
Familiar only as dreams are
Whose next turn I could not predict
Though when I found myself
At last at a seashore
Of round gray stones,
I nodded, sure
That this was my destination.

"Familiar as only dreams are"
I loved this line. You have captured something so lovely and fleeting here.

Do you find it too--that there is a certain familiarity you can have with a dream-place or a dream-feeling or a dream-creature that you don't have with any waking type of thing?

Yes I find this as well. There is a "normalcy" to the strange places one finds oneself in dreams. I also feel sometimes in a dream as if I am within a truer version or expression of myself than I am in a waking state. I can't express this feeling well. I am more "me" in a dream.
