Para-amnesia

Para-amnesia

I woke, and even recognizing the room
Didn't know where I was
Even repeating my name
Didn't know who I was.
I wandered down a path
Familiar only as dreams are
Whose next turn I could not predict
Though when I found myself
At last at a seashore
Of round gray stones,
I nodded, sure
That this was my destination.

Your comment prompted me to reread the poem and make a little tweak. Thanks for reading!

love all your writings! thanks for sharing :)

i want to write more than haiku, but my time has been limited and i'm mentally exhausted. maybe i should just write about how i got this way! haha :))

Your haiku were always beautiful, but now they're really stunning. Really, each one you write takes my breath away. You've really got the knack for capturing a small thing, the essence of it.

But I wish you could reclaim the energy you need for other writing, if you want it! ... I sometimes am too tired to work on stories by the end of the day, so I have an inkling of what you're experiencing. For me, I think it helps to do the writing earlier--but that's not always an option if work or other obligations interfere.

thank you for your kind words. i'm glad my haiku have touched you.

my mind gets so overloaded that i guess its easier for me to look outside my mind to capture a small thing than to look inside to capture deeper writing. not sure even that makes sense :)

a dream i had the other night has been on my mind. maybe i need to get that out in text?? i will give that a try. better than the housework i should be doing!

Do try!

And I know what you mean about sensory/emotional overload. Me too. That's why I like talking in stories or in poetry rather than relate actual facts. Yeah, I completely empathize.
