Sea Hummingbirds (and Bee Sharks)
On September 9, Em imagines sea hummingbirds for her sister Tammy:
Maybe you can start a whole new genealogy. The sea hummingbirds, who have scales instead of feathers, and both lungs and gills
Here is a sea hummingbird:

And--unrelated to this day in Pen Pal-- some time ago I also promised a picture of a bee shark for Benjanun Sriduangkaew, @bees_ja on Twitter:

and we ran the vessel ashore
on the Gulliby Isles where the Poo-poo smiles
and the rubbily Ub-dugs roar.
And we sat on the edge of a sandy ledge
and we shot at the whistling bee-ee-ee
and the cinnamon bats wore waterproof hats
as they dipped in the shiny sea."

Hummingbirds already look like they have scales.
I want to paint a macaw for Emma to finish.

If you do do that collaboration, take photos!

Also you should maybe check out this Betty the Shark EP (http://bettytheshark.bandcamp.com/album/sad-bad-and-glad-ep), which I found searching on shark-and-bee music. So far I like all the songs (I've listened to three).

One time for a crazy orienteering meet I dressed up as a bee. I rented a bee costume and put yellow and black stripes on my face and neck. (A tour bus filled with tourists saw me at a stop light while I was driving to the meet. They all pointed at me from their windows)
I was a roving control which meant I got to buzz all over the place in section of forest about 30' x 30' and people running the race had to tag me to get their control card punched. I think I got more running done at that meet than any of the others where I had been a participant.

I love how graceful the sea-hummingbird looks.
