What is the value in doing it, for the orchards? Can they make more money by selling the fruit like that? I did something like that once as a child, lo these many decades ago, but it was a strawberry farm after harvest, and people were just allowed in to pick whatever the pickers had missed. I've never had sweeter strawberries...
