A bird flew right into the light of the sun, and when it did, its wings were like flames or lightning. Maybe you can imagine it: look at the blue below, where the house is kindly shielding your eyes from the sun. Now imagine moving a little to the left, so the sun is just visible--and a bird is flying up there, and its wings have all the sun's brightness caught in the feathers.



And speaking of wings--safe travels and best adventures to Little Springtime, off to the land of her birth, the land of the rising sun, for a year in a Japanese high school.

We stayed with her until the point when she walks through the gate ( you know, taking off your shoes and all that). She walked on without looking back--that's the spirit!

Thank you for the back pat! I did my private weepy thing earlier in the day--well, actually it was the previous day--and was feeling pretty cheery by that point. She'll have a great time. Adventure--you have to just embrace it.

It *is* a joyful moment for the adventurer--and I really want all the kids to have the joy of adventuring (provided they want it, of course).

And hey, I'm not done adventuring, myself. ... I will really miss some things about the past few years, as we move into the next few. But the only answer it to find interesting and wonderful things in the days to come.
