I missed it too--too far from my father's house to there. But I followed his progress online :D

[identity profile] cucumberseed.livejournal.com 2010-04-19 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)

I will! It is totally awesome! And it's not like he's had tons of time for training, either--it's really totally great that he finished, and pretty much at his predicted time and pace, too.

[identity profile] asakiyume.livejournal.com 2010-04-19 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] intertribal.livejournal.com 2010-04-19 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, nice job! (I just ran 3 minutes and feel like death, so... yeah!)

[identity profile] asakiyume.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! Yeah, I have yet to run one-twenty-sixth of the distance, so I'm pretty much in awe, here.

[identity profile] asakiyume.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 12:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee--thanks for the applause!

[identity profile] deponti.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 01:14 am (UTC)(link)

Thank you <lj user="deponti"!

[identity profile] peppergrass.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
HOORAY! That's fantastic! How many does this make now? Is this his best time?

[identity profile] asakiyume.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 12:34 pm (UTC)(link)
This is only his second! His first was last September, and it qualified him to run. I'm not sure which time was better, his time in the other one or this one. I know he was a little disappointed in his time for this one, but I also know that it was good enough so that he qualified to run again next year, so he can try to improve if he wants.

Re: Yaay!

[identity profile] asakiyume.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 12:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you Origa!

Thanks Nine! It was an adventure; I'm so glad he did it.

[identity profile] skogkatt.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
WOOO! Awesome! Congratulations, Waka!

[identity profile] asakiyume.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 12:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks [livejournal.com profile] skogkatt! Check out [livejournal.com profile] shikuchi's entry--she talks more about it and mentions a carousel, which got me thinking of your carousel-touring plan....

[identity profile] amanen.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Aww yeah I totally blogged about it!

We saw a clip of the race on a TV at a station, but all we could see were the people at the very front. But OH MAN were the trains crowded.

So, YAAAAAAAAAAAY HE DONE IT

[identity profile] asakiyume.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 12:30 pm (UTC)(link)
HE DONE IT!!

Your day sounded fantastic. I loved your entry. Write a story about a bus line for ghosts, please. (Um, that last sentence was meant to be humorous, not, y'know, an actual formal request or anything. I just thought it was so cool.)

[identity profile] usha123.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
sounds like a great timing..is this his first?

[identity profile] usha123.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
sorry, I think I got an Indianism in there..would you say 'great time?'..now I am even more confused!

well, what I meant was that (with a son who runs marathons) 3.22 sounds very very good to me :-)

[identity profile] asakiyume.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 12:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't even notice that, but now that you mention it, yes, I guess in American English we'd say "it was a great time." I thought it was good too! But he had been hoping for a faster pace.

So your son runs marathons too? Cool! How many has he run?

[identity profile] usha123.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 06:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I think around six..five in India and the NY marathon a year or two back...plus several half marathons including one in Reading near London last month..he talks about 'times', so I have some idea :-)

also that wakanamori could speed up towards the end..that really sounds great!

[identity profile] asakiyume.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a lot of marathons and half-marathons! We need to get your son and my husband together one day!

[identity profile] asakiyume.livejournal.com 2010-04-20 12:28 pm (UTC)(link)
No, this was his second--because you need to have a certain time to qualify to run in the Boston Marathon (and actually, you need to be sure the marathon you run in to qualify is certified as a qualifying marathon). His first one was last September.
